TAG Awards

TAG Student of the Year is an award designed to recognize Tennessee students for distinguished achievement in academics, leadership, and/or the arts. TAG hopes that this award inspires students to continue to reach for their dreams and achieve to their highest potential. This award highlights the talents of high-ability youth within Tennessee communities, and draws attention to the importance of supporting the needs of gifted learners. Nominees may demonstrate their excellence through achievement in the arts, academics, leadership, or motivation in overcoming obstacles. Awards are given in three categories:

  • Elementary (Grades K-5)

  • Middle (Grades 6-8)

  • High (Grades 9-12)

It is not necessary that nominees be enrolled in a public school; homeschool and private school student submissions are welcome. Students must be current residents of Tennessee. Nominators may be parents, teachers, peers, or the student themselves.

To nominate a student, please complete the form below. We also require a student essay, which should be submitted via email to our Vice President-Middle TN. This essay should reflect the student’s personality and address one or more of the following areas:

  • specific areas of accomplishment

  • how the student has faced and worked through/overcome obstacles to success

  • the impact the student has had on others

  • how the students future plans/goals have been impacted by their areas of accomplishment/achievement

Award winners will be announced at our annual conference and will receive a cash prize.

Email our Vice President-Middle Tennessee with any questions.
